Mechanical Properties polypropylene has good mechanical propertiesbecause of its high crystallinity and regular structure. TheMechanical Properties of polypropylene are higher than those ofpolyethylene, but the tensile strength of polypropylene is stilllower than that of polyethylene. The tensile strength ofpolypropylene can only reach 30mpa or slightly higher. The higherthe ISOTACTICITY index, the higher the tensile strength, but thehigher the isotacticity index, the lower the impact strength,however, the temperature and loading rate of polypropylene resin donot change after falling to a certain value, which greatly affectsthe toughness of polypropylene. When the temperature is higher thanthe glass transition temperature, the impact fracture shows ductilefracture, and the impact strength decreases greatly. Thetemperature of transition from ductile fracture to brittle fractureincreases with increasing loading rate. Polypropylene has excellentbending fatigue resistance, its products at room temperature can bebent 106 times without damage. But at room temperature and lowtemperature, because of its high molecular structure regularity, sopoor impact strength. Polypropylene outstanding performance isanti-bending fatigue, commonly known as 100 foldadhesive.
Thermalproperties polypropylene has good heat resistance, products can besterilized at above 100 °C temperature, under the conditions of noexternal force, 150 °C is not deformation. Embrittlementtemperature is-35 °C, embrittlement occurs below-35 °C, coldresistance is not as good as polyethylene. The reported values ofthe glass transition temperature of polypropylene are 18qC, 0QC, 5°C, etc. , which is also due to the different proportion of crystalphase and amorphous phase in different samples, which makes thechain length of the amorphous part of the molecular chaindifferent. The melting temperature of polypropylene is about 40-50%higher than that of polyethylene, about 164-170 °C, and the meltingpoint of isotactic polypropylene is 176 °C
